The Officer of First Contact is a pandimensional being with the role of leading the portal-opening ceremonies at Plasma Plaza in the Pandimensional City.
Character[]
Appearance[]
Reid has a glowing white complexion, deep pink eyes and pink flames, a sign of his high class family. He wears a giant, impractical but impressive red headdress, with two squared-off tips with gold badges. While at work, his uniform also consists of a stiff red pauldron embellished with strings of gold medallions.
Personality[]
Very much a traditionalist, Reid is very afraid of change and prefers everything in life to follow set patterns. When leading ceremonies he expects everyone to play their part without question and in that way is a bit snobbish. He is aware of his important role and knows everyone else looks up to him. The easiest way to annoy him is to turn up uninvited and make unplanned demands. He has been seen standing up even to the High Quing to defend 'the set order of things'.
Powers/Abilities[]
Reid has a fair amount of influence over the pandims, being only just below the High Quing in the packing order. He has a loud, booming voice and is known for his lengthy speeches, but it's hard to call that an 'ability'.
History[]
Reid Schift has been working as the Officer of First Contact ever since the retirement of his father from the same position, following the dynastic traditions of his family. Every 831 quantum-days he calls the population of Pandimensional City to Plasma Plaza where he orders the opening of a portal to a random other planet and sends twenty carefully-selected pandims through to explore.
In Stella's origin story, Reid opened the portal but was shocked and fled when the portal changed destination and a huge monster rampaged through. Later, the Office of First Contact was invaded by the High Quing so they could send Andrew Romeda and the Seeker Syndicate through the secondary portal to seek the delinquents apparently guilty of the monster attack. He resisted at first but was forced into letting the portal be used.
